The on-course cheers at the start of the first race of the Cheltenham Festival is known as the Cheltenham Roar. It's known as such for very good reason, and if you're ever lucky enough to be part of the Cheltenham crowd you too will feel the roar! At the Cheltenham Roar blog we too feel this passion for the Cheltenham Festival and celebrate the magical racing moments it has brought us all over the years. This is a highly anticipated horse racing event for both casual punters and professional gamblers alike.

We detail the whole of the Cheltenham Festival schedule from Tuesday starting with the Supreme Novices Hurdle, and including such noteable races as the Festival Trophy and Champion Hurdle. During the mid week racing schedule we see the Queen Mother Champion Chase, then on friday, the final day there's the likes of the Triumph Hurdle and highlight for most the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Like many of the horse races at this top class festival, the Gold Cup is a group one race. It's held over a 3 mile 2 furlongs course, with 22 fences. The race is almost two years old, having being first held in 1819 and has prize money of over half a million pounds. It's a race that makes legends, with horses such as Arkle, Desert Orchid, Kauto Star and Best Mate all making their name here, with the latter horse winning an unrivalled three years in a row.

Cheltenham Roar also highlights the Championship Races held over the years. The four Championship Races are the Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Chase, Stayers Hurdle and Cheltenham Gold Cup. We summarise each year with a mini review of all four of these races. Other aspects of the site include Video highlights of some of the Cheltenham Festival's best moments, Cheltenham Spotlight which showcases a top Cheltenham website, and a page dedicated to the Festival's results each year. Last but not least our Horse Racing Links page offers a selection of quality horse racing sites and blogs relating to racing Festivals like Cheltenham and the Grand Nation, and other interesting horse racing tips type sites.
